On demand webinar: The Apprenticeship Levy and Payroll: What in-house HR, Finance & Payroll Leaders need to know
|Date:||8 December 2020|
|Duration:||40 minutes plus Q & A|
How can the new Level 5 Apprenticeship improve your organisation’s payroll performance?
The advent of the Apprenticeship Levy in 2017 changed the role of apprenticeships in England from qualification frameworks to vocational qualifications written by employer-led Trailblazers. It also offered Government funding that organisations could benefit from.
The resultant Standards and End-Point Assessment Plans mean that apprenticeships have become workplace programmes, written for the profession by members of the profession. Delivered by Apprenticeship Training Providers, supported by employers and assessed by independent End-Point Assessment Organisations, apprenticeships now need to be regarded as the professional qualification.
This UK Government policy change worked well for the payroll profession and highlighted the knowledge and resource gaps we have unwittingly allowed to develop over a number of years. Arguably, this has been exposed by the COVID pandemic. The events of 2020 have also led employers to look at every penny in the training budget, comparing it to the funds in the Levy account. Plus, for non-Levy paying employers, it has brought to the fore other UK Government funding and recruitment initiatives they can access.
Whether you’re an in-house HR, Finance or Payroll Leader, if you’re responsible for your organisation’s payroll function, then skilling or up-skilling your payroll professionals with the knowledge, skills and behaviours to improve and transform payroll processes is a must. Transforming payroll can reduce cycle times and manual work to reduce cost per payslip and leakage and improve the employee experience.
